Yin Yoga with Tibetan sound bowls meditation.

Based on Ancient Chinese philosophies and Taoist principles Yin yoga aims to unblock and improve your Qi ( energy force running through your body). Yin yoga works on tissues like your fascia, ligaments, joints and bones. Poses tend to be held for longer and the breath is used to move through a deep stretch. Slower and more meditative yin is powerful too. When the connective tissues are slowly stretched they become a little longer and stronger and more flexibility is achieved. Aches and stiffness in the joints is eased. The sound bowl meditation at the end of the class is pure joy. A sense of calmness after the class is a reward worth waiting for and though the pace may be slower it’s definitely no less of a workout.

Hatha Yoga

The class will begin with a period of quiet and stillness for grounding and centring, followed by appropriate warmup exercises. Then there will be a series of flowing poses - moving from one asana to the next, linked together with the breath, which creates an internal heat making the body supple. The dynamic flow turns into a meditation in motion. A number of static held poses will follow, which will build strength and flexibility. When combined, the passive and dynamic asanas, teamed with breath awareness, bring about an equilibrium both physically, mentally and emotionally, in a balanced and harmonious way.
